In January 2008, Octopus completed the sale of Gyro to a US Private Equity house, representing a return of 2.3x cash on cash and a 58% IRR for the Eclipse funds.
Founded in 1991, Gyro is the leading UK integrated B2B brand communications agency and was ranked UK No.1 B2B agency in 2005 and 2006. The company provides brand strategy, direct marketing, on and offline advertising, media planning and web marketing to many high-profile clients.
Octopus led the original transaction alongside other VCT investors in February 2005, which provided £3m. This was followed by a further investment of £6m in October 2006 to provide capital for acquisitions.
