Our greatest asset is the judgement, resources, experience and skills of our Directors and Independent Investors. The desire to help entrepreneurs promote their ideas - by passing on knowledge - sets Octopus Ventures apart. Creating and building a new business is a great challenge. Management must create strategic partnerships with suppliers and related businesses, as well as beat competitors, to build market share and meet financial targets. Balancing cash flow is never easy even when a business is adequately funded. It takes considerable time, skill, energy and determination. It also helps if you have some lucky breaks but there is no substitute for experience if business threatening mistakes are to be avoided. When Octopus Ventures' Independent Investors commit to an investment, they commit more than just money. While they will not normally become involved in the day-to-day management of the companies, they are able to act as advisers, coaches and mentors to Management in the development of the business. If we cannot add value we will not invest.
